Surfing for Farmers - Take the Beach Back to the Paddock - 2024/2025 Season

Community at the heart of Surfing for Farmers

Rural New Zealanders know how important it is to take a well-earned break from life on the
farm, and Surfing for Farmers is all about building a strong community around that idea. Now in
its eighth season, the program gives farmers a chance to step away from their daily routines and
enjoy some much-needed relaxation.

The positive effects of just one surf session can go a long way, boosting not only the farmers
themselves but also their families and wider communities. With the new season kicking off,
Surfing for Farmers aims to help farmers recharge at the beach so they can return to work
feeling refreshed - especially after a tough winter.

Stephen Thomson, Founder and Chairman of Surfing for Farmers, shared his enthusiasm for the
upcoming season, saying, “We’re excited to be heading into another year. Surfing for Farmers
has grown so much, and it’s amazing to see how it continues to make a real difference for rural
communities, especially during hard times.”

At the heart of the program are 120 volunteer coordinators, many of whom understand the
challenges of rural life. They give their time to make sure everything runs smoothly, guiding
farmers through the experience and creating a welcoming atmosphere.

To make it easy for everyone to join, all equipment and coaching are provided free of charge, so
no one is left out, just get in the Ute and turn up at the beach.

With the support of our premium sponsors Ballance Agri-Nutrients, Bayleys Real Estate, Beef &
Lamb New Zealand, Jarden, Rabobank, and Fonterra. We are excited to be a Community Partner again this season.

Surfing for Farmers continues to grow, reaching more communities each year.
This season, it will be offered at 25 beaches across the country, bringing the benefits of surf
therapy to even more rural areas.
