We are delighted to see that Pat Macaulay has been recognised for the contribution she continues to make to our rural community, which includes the work that she does with the Otago Rural Support Trust.

Pat is a semi-finalist in the 2022 Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Awards.
She has been nominated in the Ryman Healthcare Ltd Senior New Zealander of the Year category!

Pat Macaulay is a role model for rural New Zealanders. She has given more than 50 years of voluntary service to nurture rural communities. While farming with her husband and raising their three sons, Pat threw herself into supporting the many youth focussed organisations around her, volunteering at Plunket, Playcentre, the Parent Teacher Association, and Scouts. She has been a member of Rural Women New Zealand (RWNZ) for nearly 50 years. An integral part of many grassroots initiatives, she has encouraged rural resilience and connection and says volunteering is about being “part of an excellent team”. Organising countless fundraising projects, she was part of the committee that raised $25,000 for charity through the RWNZ Triple F Challenges on the Otago Central Rail Trail. Pat has also been involved with the Otago Rural Support Trust since 1997, beginning as a trustee before moving into a co-ordinator role in 2015, working on the ground with farmers and their families.

Pat was awarded a Plunket Service Medal in 1990 and a RWNZ National Service Award in 2014.
