WORKING BEE- ON FARM MARLBOROUGH
NORTHBANK FARMERS SEPT 19TH
**Working Bee on farm – North Bank Sunday 19th September **
The flooding seems a while ago, but farmers are still dealing with the mess caused when rivers overflowed.
The sheer volume of water has seen fences on local farms destroyed or simply covered in vegetation.
Most farms are now stock-proof but need help removing vegetation from wires and netting, a task most efficiently carried out by hand.
Also helping clear light debris from hay and silage paddocks.
Here’s an opportunity for you to help out. Community support means a lot to these farmers affected by the floods.
Meet 10.00AM Sunday 19th September at the west end of the Wairau River bridge on the right hand gravel area.
Many hands make light work, and any assistance would be greatly appreciated. This is physical work, but you can work at your own pace.
Even if you can only give a couple of hours please come along and help by removing vegetation from fences and clearing debris so the fences can be fixed or picking up small branches from the paddocks (the bigger branches are collected by tractor)
Boots or suitable footwear for working outdoors
Wet weather gear ️
And glasses, leather/work gloves and any tools you can bring eg knife, light grubber, hand saw for small branches, secateurs, spade
And if you have a ute or trailer, this could be helpful, too.
Your health and safety is our priority – ideally wear bright coloured clothing and please follow any instructions given by the host farmer.
If you’re able to help please call/text/email
